Obtaining a Custom Web Address

What is a Custom Web Address?

A Custom Web Address is a way to create a simplified URL for a Web page. For example, instead of calpoly.edu/~department/, it may be easier to remember and use department.calpoly.edu.

Who Can Have a Custom Web Address?

In general, a Custom Web Address can be created for any of the groups listed within the Organizational Accounts page. If your group is not listed within this page, you must contact the Service Desk which will make request of the CIO for granting of the address.

Getting a Custom Web Address

To obtain a Custom Web Address for Department Web servers, go to the ITS Network Administration Web site and fill out their "IP Address and Name Service Request Form".

For special requests or more information on Custom Web Addresses please contact the Service Desk at 756-7000.
