Upgrading Your Site to the Latest Version
Determine the version of the Cal Poly Web Template you are using before attempting to upgrade your site. Failure to do this could cause undesireable results. If the first and second digits of the template you are using are the same as the current template being offered, then follow the instructions below. If they are not the same (i.e your site uses and older version of the template) please contact the ITS Service Desk for assistance at 805-756-5542.
Upgrading Instructions
Note: If you have modified any of the files in the common folder of your web site prior to upgrading (e.g. cp_screen_3.4.css), this upgrade process may cause undesirable results.
- Determine that your template version contains the same first two digits as the most recent version. For example, upgrading from 3.4.0 to 3.4.4 will work, but upgrading from 3.3.1 to 3.4.4 will not.
- Go to the Download page and download the most recent version of the template; follow the extraction instructions then return to step three below.
- Using a file explorer window, open the cp template main folder and locate the common folder.
- Copy and paste the common folder from the cp template folder into the root folder of your site. This folder will replace the existing one in your site.
- Allow the new files to overwrite the existing files.
Obtaining the Homepage Template
If your Templates folder contains the homepage.dwt file, skip the next two steps.
- Locate the Templates folder inside the root folder of the template that was downloaded and extracted. Copy and paste the homepage.dwt file into your Templates folder.
- Locate the sample homepage files (sample_homepage1.html, sample_homepage2.html, etc.) in the root folder and copy them into the root folder of your site.
Once you have completed these steps, your upgrade is complete. But it is important to look over your site for any irregularities that may have occurred.
