Setting Up Web site in support of a Cal Poly Department, Unit or Program
These sites are used in support of academic and administrative functions of the University. They are recognized as "official Web sites" of the university. As such, they must adhere to specific policy, Web addressing (URL), minimum page element, and other style requirements.
Web Site Hosting Resources
Department Web sites can be published onto the following resources:
- Department Account on Central Unix (Preferred)
- Department (owned) Web server
- Educational Web Services (Cal Poly Corporation)
- Outsource and host external to the campus
Note: Web sites which represent Cal Poly academic programs must be addressed within the CALPOLY.EDU Web domain. This is Cal Poly's current practice and a specific written policy for this is being drafted.
Note: Department accounts hosted on Central UNIX instructional servers may not host Web pages that are designed to market or sell products or services. Fundraising and event promotion for the department/program are excepted.
